Who is the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association?
The Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association (BHNA) is actually BHNA, Inc. We are an incorporated entity with tax-exempt status [501 (c)(4)] that primarily services the area of the Bluff Heights neighborhood in Long Beach.
The Bluff Heights neighborhood, a mix of the 2nd & 3rd city council districts, extends roughly from Redondo on the east to Junipero to the west, 4th street on the north to Broadway to the south (see the exact boundaries below). It is also recognized by the City of Long Beach as an historic district, meaning that special codes apply that help to preserve the architectural integrity of the mostly Craftsman and California Mission-style homes and buildings in the neighborhood.
The Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association is a volunteer organization. There are no employees that work for BHNA. We rely on the volunteer spirit of the neighborhood to provide the all staffing for the Board and our special events. Our primary financial funding comes from annual membership dues from residents like you, and from special event/project results, advertising/sponsorship revenue and individual/corporate donations.
“The Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to community building, education, historic preservation, public safety, neighborhood beautification and thoughtful growth designed to enhance the quality of life among its residents.”
The mission statement guides the focus and actions of the BHNA Board in its goal of benefiting the community through education regarding community building, historic preservation, public safety, neighborhood beautification and civic awareness. Education for the community is provided through quarterly general membership meetings, quarterly newsletters, community events and special projects.
