Guidelines: Submission of articles and images for the Bluff Heights Neighborhood News and web site

Thank you for your interest in submitting an article for use in Bluff Heights Neighborhood News.

By submitting an article to us, you agree to let us use the article not only in the newsletter, but any place content from Bluff Heights Neighborhood News is used. In addition, the BHNA Board of Directors and its newsletter editor will have final say over the editing and content of any article submissions. You, however, retain the copyright in your work and are free to reuse it in any way you want.

We are interested in seeing well-written features, how-to articles, "how I did it" stories, restoration/remodeling tips and hints, instructions, motivational articles and other event-related articles that will help our audience gain knowledge that will help create a safe and attractive neighborhood environment.

Among the broad subject areas we cover in the newsletter are community building, education, historic preservation, public safety, neighborhood beautification and thoughtful growth designed to enhance the quality of life among its residents. To further understand our publication and web site please read the BHNA mission statement:

"The Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to community building, education, historic preservation, public safety, neighborhood beautification and thoughtful growth designed to enhance the quality of life among its residents."

Please submit your article within your e-mail or as an attached Microsoft Word document with the extension .doc. If your article is accepted we may contact you about visuals. Upon approval of your piece, keep in mind our publication is mainly black and white and it appears on our web site as a black and white pdf. Occasionally we may require a color image(s) – jpeg, gif, tiff and eps files are all acceptable.

We only accept submissions from the original author of the articles. By submitting material, you acknowledge that you are legally entitled to distribute the work and to allow it to be redistributed. Articles that have a "shelf life" to must be noted as such so we can include them in the appropriate issue of the newsletter. The Bluff Heights Neighborhood News is up to four times a year (generally Spring, Summer, Fall & Winter). Other articles that do not have a shelf life may be stored by the editor for use (or even reuse) when publication space is available. Please use the words "Newsletter Submission" in the subject of your email so we can identify the nature of the communication.

We do not pay for articles, and do not accept articles that are primarily advertisements. However, you may place a brief resource box and contact information (but no ads) at the end of your article. Please note that we cannot guarantee that we will use your article in Bluff Heights Neighborhood News or the BHNA web site.

If you would like to submit an article for consideration, or have additional questions about submitting content for the Bluff Heights Neighborhood News, please send an email to info@bluffheights.org.
