BHNA Spring Neighborhood Forum – Here is what you missed:

Thank you to all our neighbors who came to our Spring Neighborhood Forum.  If you missed the meeting, you can view a PDF of the presentation here: BHNA April 2015 Presentation

We had the pleasure of meeting our new Police Chief, Robert Luna, as well as the newly promoted East Division Commander, Liz Griffin.  Both Chief Luna and Commander Griffin had the same thing to say: the residents of the neighborhood are the eyes and ears of the police.  If you see something suspicious, don’t hesitate to call them.  It is with our help and vigilance that the police are able to catch the bad guys.  You can either call 911 or the police non-emergency number 435-6711.  Also, smile, wave and say “Hello” to our police – they love it when we show that we care!

NEWSFLASH: You can do something about helicopter noise pollution – call the new helicopter complaint number at 424-348-HELI.  The more complaints the airport receives, the less helicopters will buzz our neighborhood.  Please put this number in your phone and call frequently.

Also presented at the neighborhood forum was an impressive report by the Port of Long Beach detailing their 10 year Green Port Policy.  You can view a PDF of the presentation here: Bluff Heights Green Port

And last, but not least, congratulations to our BHNA 1915 homeowners!  The BHNA honored 24 gorgeous homes built in 1915, and several lovely neighbors spoke about their Centennial homes, the restoration process and living in a historic district. You can view a PDF here: 100 Year Houses 2015

BHNA Winter Neighborhood Forum – January 25, 2015

Please join us for the BHNA’s Winter Neighborhood Forum on Sunday, January 25th at 1:00 P.M. The forum will be held at La Parolaccia’s Pizza Parlour, Bacco Enoteca, located at 2945 East Broadway Street.

Come in, have an appetizer and meet your neighbors as well as our new Police Chief, Robert Luna. 2nd and 3rd district representatives will also be in attendance. This unique community meeting will be an “Open Microphone” style meeting where you can speak your mind and hear what your neighbors have to say. We look forward to seeing you!

Bluff Heights Feeds!

The Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association would like to thank all who participated in the inaugural “Bluff Heights Feeds” Food Drive. Our collection box located at B&B Restoration Hardware Store, on behalf of the “Help Me/Help You” Food Bank, was near full. You can see all the carry bags filled with canned goods destined for those who are needy right here in Long Beach.

BHNA will continue to reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves as part of its mission. Once again, “Cheers” to all who made a canned food donation, and let’s try to double our giving again next year. Happy Holidays!

Thanks for your help and support!

Historical Neighborhood Survey: Do your part!

The BHNA needs you!  The City of Long Beach has asked us to help them update our photo images of homes and buildings along with character defining features within our Historic District. The city will use these photos to help better document our residential inventory to date. Additionally, images for character defining features will be catalog to better assist homeowners as to how to deal with those features when remodeling or altering their homes.

If you would like to assist in this effort, please plan to attend a brief one hour training session on Saturday December 13, 2014 at 10:00am.  All materials for the documenting process will be handed out to volunteers. The location for the training session will be announced shortly.

We must have as many volunteers as possible in order to accomplish our goal by December 31, 2014.  Please respond at info@bluffheights.org, so we may add you to our volunteer list and email you with the location of the training session by December 10, 2014.  Thank you for your support!
