About the Event
Long Beach was once part of the most sophisticated electric railway system ever built: The Pacific Electric. “Railway Street,” now known as “Broadway,” was one of the very first railway spurs after PE arrived in Long Beach (from Los Angeles) on July 4th, 1902.
This informative docent-led walking tour will explore the early human settlement of native tribes as well as early Twentieth Century history of our Bluff Heights neighborhood while strolling from Redondo to Junipero highlighting many local landmarks along the way. The tour will end around lunchtime with refreshments and a light picnic social at Bixby Park during Saturday’s farmers’ market.
